Foundational Questions
What is functional nutrition?
A personalized, root cause approach to health that considers how your unique biology, environment, and lifestyle influence your symptoms.
How is OLIV different from traditional healthcare or general wellness coaching?
OLIV bridges the gap between conventional medicine and generic wellness. We go beyond surface-level solutions to uncover what’s driving your symptoms—using advanced diagnostics, epigenetic and micronutrient testing, and in-depth health history to guide your care.
What kinds of conditions or symptoms do you work with?
OLIV works with health-focused individuals who are navigating unresolved symptoms, chronic conditions, or a desire to optimize their long-term health.
We support clients with concerns such as:
Persistent fatigue, brain fog, or burnout
Hormonal imbalances, including thyroid, PCOS, or perimenopause
Digestive issues, including bloating, SIBO, IBS, and food sensitivities
Autoimmune symptoms and chronic inflammation
Skin concerns like acne, rashes, or unexplained flare-ups
Blood sugar instability or metabolic dysfunction
Cognitive changes, mood shifts, and memory concerns
Unexplained symptoms despite “normal” lab results
A desire to optimize longevity or performance
Can OLIV replace my primary care doctor?
No. OLIV is a specialized functional nutrition and integrative wellness practice and does not replace the role of your primary care physician. Many of our clients find that our work complements and enhances their traditional care.
Is this the right fit for me if I’ve already tried other functional or holistic approaches?
Yes—many of our clients come to OLIV after trying other approaches that didn’t offer lasting results or clear direction.
What can I expect from a telehealth experience?
All sessions with OLIV are conducted virtually, so you can receive expert support from the comfort of your home. We meet via secure HIPAA compliant video, and all lab results, protocols, and resources are delivered through a private client portal.
You’ll get the same depth of care and personalization as you would in person, with the added convenience of flexibility and messaging support.
Working Together
What happens during the initial consulation?
We’ll explore your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle patterns, and previous interventions in detail. This sets the stage for a targeted, root-cause approach. We’ll begin connecting the dots and identifying clinical priorities. You should leave with actionable steps you can begin right away and a plan for additional testing and exploration.
What types of lab testing do you use?
We use a range of advanced functional and clinical tests depending on your presentation and goals.
These may include but are not limited to:
- Comprehensive hormone panels
- GI mapping
- Epigentic micronutrients
- Heavy metal and mold
- Continuous glucose monitoring
- Genetic and epigenetic analysis
- True Age
- SIBO beath Testing
How often will we meet?
Meeting frequency depends on the level of support you choose and the complexity of your case. Most clients meet monthly or bi-monthly.
What’s included in a personalized protocol?
Your protocol is fully customized and may include functional testing recommendations, therapeutic nutrition strategies, targeted supplements, lifestyle modifications, and referrals to trusted practitioners as needed. It evolves over time based on your progress, lab results, and feedback.
How long does it take to see results?
Some clients begin noticing shifts in their health within the first few weeks, especially once key imbalances are addressed. For deeper or chronic concerns, more sustained progress typically unfolds over several months.
Our focus is on long-term healing, not temporary fixes.
Why aren’t these advanced labs typically offered in traditional healthcare settings?
Traditional healthcare is often designed to diagnose and treat disease once it’s clinically apparent—not to detect early dysfunction or optimize long-term health. Most conventional labs are limited to basic screenings that identify whether you fall within a general reference range, rather than uncovering subtle imbalances that may be driving symptoms.
Why are you only accepting clients in select states?
At this time, OLIV is only accepting clients in states where we can legally and ethically deliver the full scope of our services—including functional lab testing, personalized nutrition care, and ongoing support.
Some states have restrictive laws around lab ordering and nutrition services—New York, for example, currently prohibits certain functional labs from processing samples, regardless of provider. We’re actively reviewing state-by-state regulations and hope to expand access as laws evolve.
If you’re located in a state not currently listed, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to explore alternative options or let you know when availability opens.
Membership
How does OLIV work?
OLIV begins with a comprehensive initial package that includes a detailed initial consulation, comprehensive lab testing, continuous glucose monitoring through Theia Health, and a follow-up session to review your results and walk you through a tailored protocol.
Additional labs and supplements may be recommended based on your needs and goals but are not included in the package price.
After your initial package, you’ll have the option to book individual follow-ups or enroll in an ongoing optimization membership. This allows for continued guidance, regular lab reviews, and support as your health evolves — whether quarterly or biannually.
We keep things streamlined, effective, and fully tailored — so you can focus on results, not confusion.
What is included in the Personalized Wellness Membership?
The Personalized Wellness Membership offers ongoing, high-touch support to help you sustain momentum and continue refining your wellness strategy. It includes:
Personalized follow-up sessions (30-60 minute sessions)
Protocol adjustments based on progress and evolving needs
Lab reviews and interpretation
Continued access to curated recommendations, supplement protocols, and lifestyle strategies aligned with your goals
Is the membership required?
No, the membership is optional. After your initial consultation and lab review, you’ll receive a personalized plan and next-step recommendations. From there, you can choose to continue independently or enroll in the the Personalized Wellness Membership for ongoing guidance, accountability, and refinement.
Can I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership at any time with advance notice. We understand that life and health journeys evolve, and we want your care to feel aligned and intentional.
If I start with A La Carte follow-ups, can I switch to the membership later?
Absolutely! If you start with an A La Carte follow-up and decide you’d like more support before the month is over, just reach out. We’ll apply what you already paid toward the membership and upgrade you—so you’re not paying extra. For example, if you paid $275 for a single session and want to switch to the $450 membership, you’ll only pay the $175 difference.
Logistics
Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA cards?
We do not bill insurance directly, as our care model goes beyond the limitations of conventional coverage. However, some lab testing—such as those through Vibrant Wellness—may be eligible for HSA or FSA payment.
Please note that some HSA/FSA providers have strict limitations on which vendors they accept. We recommend reaching out to your provider to confirm their requirements in advance.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. This ensures we can honor time for all clients and maintain a high level of support and responsiveness. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee.
What if I already have labs from another provider?
We welcome existing lab work and will gladly review them if they’re relevant and recent.
Can I order labs through my primary care provider?
Yes, you can request labs through your primary care provider; however, many of the specialized or advanced tests we recommend may not be routinely ordered or available through traditional providers.
Do you collaborate with my current doctor or medical team?
Yes, absolutely—when appropriate and with your consent. We believe in collaborative care and are committed to working alongside your medical providers to ensure your wellness plan is comprehensive and well-coordinated.
Our advanced testing uncovers insights that may warrant further evaluation with conventional diagnostics or specialist referrals. We’re happy to share our findings and support your healthcare team in providing the best possible care.
Do I need to pay for specialty labs?
Yes. Your Foundations Package includes the first round of standard bloodwork, but any additional specialty testing—such as GI-MAP, SIBO, TruAge, micronutrient panels, or genetic testing—will be an additional cost. These labs are selected based on your unique needs and goals, and we’ll always discuss options and pricing with you before ordering anything further.
